Laser Therapy for pain and healing

Laser Therapy for pain and healing

How Does Laser Therapy Work?

Laser Therapy is the process of stimulating our cells with wavelength specific energy to reduce the natural inflammatory response, increase respiratory metabolism, increase circulation and accelerate recovery of injury all at the cellular level. The laser energy is applied to an injury or to a painful site for a few minutes at a time…either daily or only a couple of times a week, for several weeks. The result is pain relief, a reduction of inflammation and accelerated tissue regeneration. The treatment is non-invasive and painless and usually takes only a few minutes to perform. Many of our clients report a soothing warmth that has an analgesic effect, which is a pain blocker.

The Uses of Laser Therapy.

The main uses for Laser Therapy are tissue repair and pain relief, as well as relief from inflammation. Pain relief, in our experience with the treatments, often comes immediately after the very first treatment. Laser Therapy is being used to treat inflammation caused by arthritis, chronic pain from old sports injuries and for treating minor injuries and sprains. It is used to help reduce swelling and promote soft tissue healing. It’s also being used to treat difficult to heal flesh wounds. The potential for new applications is limitless. There is hope that someday it may be used to treat traumatic brain injuries, spinal cord injuries and degenerative nervous system diseases. Researchers are studying it’s use to treat Alzheimer’s sufferers and stroke victims.

The use of Laser therapy is growing in traditional practices as an alternative therapy or as a complementary therapy. It’s even being used much like acupuncture, stimulating acupoints without needles. It is non-invasive, painless and there is no need for medication or other preparation. The treatment generally has no side effects or reported adverse effects. Each session takes only a short amount of time.
