Laser Phototherapy Course

Laser Phototherapy Course

laser phototherapy

Who can perform phototherapy treatments varies from state to state.  It is our opinion that since phototherapy lasers are lower power than cosmetic lasers, the phototherapy lasers cannot incise or structurally alter tissue, therefore are not subject to the same legal requirements of cosmetic lasers.  Please call us at 303-237-9100 for clarification.

Our Phototherapy course starts with the basics of laser safety, laser physics and universal precautions. The course will then provide training in the use of Light Emitting Diodes (LED) and Class I, IIIa, IIIb and IV phototherapy lasers for use on humans for soft tissue healing and pain reduction.

What is covered in the course?

The course is designed for persons who have knowledge in human anatomy such as Athletic Trainer, Physical Therapist, Occupational Therapist or Massage Therapist and persons holding medical licensure such as MD, DO, PA, RN, Chiropractor or Acupuncturist .  Instruction will go into great depth on how the laser interacts with human tissue and the mechanism of action of laser phototherapy.  An entire day will be spent with hands-on training in the practical applications on the human body.

Laser Phototherapy can also be known as:

  • —Cold Laser Therapy
  • —Photo Dynamic Therapy (PDT)
  • —Low Level Light Therapy (LLLT)
  • —Photobiomodulation Therapy (PBM)
  • —High Dosage Laser Therapy (HDLT)

These different labels can be confusing.  Our training will clarify and simplify the protocols of Laser Phototherapy.

The benefits of Laser Phototherapy

The laser energy is applied to an injury or to a painful site for a few minutes at a time…several times a week, for several weeks.

Results are:

  • Acceleration of the inflammatory response
  • Accelerated tissue regeneration
  • —Pain relief
  • —Not anesthetic…but Analgesic effects

The Laser Phototherapy course will consist of lectures on laser safety and laser physics.  The course covers two days with day one didactic instruction on laser safety, laser physics, tissue interaction and mechanism of action.  Day two is the practical application of light therapy on live models in small group settings.

The objective of the Laser Phototherapy course is to fully teach the use of therapy lasers for pain reduction and soft tissue healing and their applications on the human body.

The cost of the course is $2,000 and includes all class workbooks, handouts and lunch each day. We will be offering classes once a month, see our class schedule for exact dates.
